Frequently Asked Questions

What calorie counter do you use for your intake and weight loss chart?

I use Caloriecount.com. I love it over all the other sites. :)

What is your starting weight? What is your current weight?

I don’t disclose my weight publicly. People I know IRL have access to this blog and I just personally do not feel comfortable sharing my weight. If I was an anonymous blog, I totally would. But it’s a personal decision. I also think it helps in people not judging me for my SW/CW. It personally helps me not dwell on the number itself. But helps better show the progress that I’ve made.

Are you really trying to lose 70lbs?

No. I’d be a corpse if I lost that much. I just felt like adding extra rows so that I wouldn’t become obsessed with the numbers.

Do you have a progress blog?

Yes, but it’s private. I may offer access to it once I reach a specific weight. But it would only be to a select few people that I trust and who interact with me on a regular basis. I wouldn’t give it to some random person who asks and who I don’t recognize.

How did you lose all that weight?

By changing my lifestyle and my horrible eating habits, as well as my negative mentality. I started eating more, I ate healthier and more often. I cut out a ton of processed food, but I still allowed myself treats from time to time. I also started exercising at least 30min 3-5 times a week. I did a combination of strength training and cardio. Healthy all the way. I’ve been really happy and satisfied in pretty much every aspect of my journey thus far.

What’s BMR? What’s AMR?

BMR = Basal Metabolic Rate = the minimum amount of calories your body needs to sustain its most important body functions (heart, lungs, brain, organs, etc) if you were a vegetable and didn’t move all day. It is based off of your current height, weight, age, and sex. It only changes if you grow, lose/gain weight, or get a year older.

AMR = Active Metabolic Rate = the amount of calories you burn living everyday life. We’re obviously not vegetables, we move around. If you lead a sedentary life (barely active), then you’ll burn about 200-300 extra calories in addition to your BMR. This includes walking around, eating, getting dressed, etc. If you’re more active, for example if you play sports, then your AMR will be significantly higher. Every single person already burns at least 1200 calories every single day. If you’re taller than 5’0, then you burn a lot more.

How many calories do you eat each day?

I try to eat between 1300-1500 calories on days I don’t do any exercise. And 1600-1800 calories on days that I workout.

I have a hard time some days meeting my calorie requirements though. If I don’t keep track of what goes into my mouth, I’m the type of person who can easily consume less than 800 calories and be full the entire day. This is why I count calories. It forces me to eat more. But I don’t over-stuff myself either. If I’m full, I don’t try to swallow down a few extra calories for the sake of hitting the number. I’ve gotten better with incorporating higher-calorie foods into my diet though. :)

Do you have any good ____ exercises?

Probably not. I don’t really keep a stash of bookmarks for exercises. If I need something, I do a quick Google search or Youtube search. But you’re welcome to look through my tagged/workouts page.
